Abstract
The countries and the organization included in Annex I to the Convention have undertaken a project relating to national communications. Canada, on behalf of the above-mentioned countries and organization, submitted a report to the ninth session of the Committee on possible elements of guidelines for the preparation of first communications from Annex I Parties (A/AC.237/45/Add.1). At that session, the Committee noted the intention to continue the "valuable work", especially with regard to the review process and assistance to countries with economies in transition (see A/AC.237/55, annex I, decision 9/2, para. 1). Canada, again on behalf of the countries and the organization concerned, has submitted to the interim secretariat the report attached to this note. The report, which is reproduced as submitted, presents a proposal for the review process for consideration by the Committee. The proposal represents a consensus among experts from twenty-nine countries and the organization included in Annex I
