Item 4 of the provisional agenda. This document is available in English only

Abstract
The financial procedures of the Convention stipulate that contributions will be made each year by Parties on the basis of an indicative scale, adopted by consensus by the Conference of the Parties, and based on such a scale of assessments of the United Nations as may be adopted from time to time by the General Assembly (decision 15/CP.1, annex I, paragraph 7(a)).
Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 55/5 of 23 December 2000 revising the percentage scale of assessments for 2001, the annex attached to the present note reflects the indicative contributions for 2001, based on the revised scales. These revised indicative contributions supersede those set out in decision 20/CP.5, annex II adopted by the Conference of
the Parties at its fifth session. The secretariat had already dispatched notifications to Parties regarding their 2001 contributions on 30 September 2000 on the basis of the previous scale of assessment. For those Parties that paid their contributions on the basis of these notifications, the differences will be incorporated into their indicative contributions notified for 2002. However, some Parties may find it appropriate to take action this year, as their scales have changed significantly
