Abstract
The Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), at its 1 st meeting on 24 July, noted the information contained in the reports of the second and third meetings of the Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention (CGE) (FCCC/SBI/2001/2 and FCCC/SBI/2001/3), and the interregional workshop
(FCCC/SBI/2001/INF.1). The SBI also noted the information contained in the preliminary report of the CGE (FCCC/SBI/2000/8). Having considered a proposal by the Chairman, it decided to establish a Friends of the Chair group to consider this report. The SBI invites Parties to submit views by 15 September 2001 on:

(a) The preliminary report of the CGE;
(b) The current progress of the process aiming at improvement of guidelines for
subsequent national communications of Parties not included in Annex I, in accordance with
decision 8/CP.5

The SBI also requests the secretariat to compile these submissions as a miscellaneous document and to prepare a consolidated report on Parties’ views on the issues indicated in paragraph 3 above, for consideration by the SBI at its fifteenth session
