Abstract
This report by the Executive Board provides information to the COP, at its eighth session (COP 8), on progress made regarding the CDM, in particular on the implementation of the tasks in its work plan until COP 8 referred to in paragraph 6 of decision 17/CP.7, and recommends decisions to be taken by the COP at its eighth session, as appropriate. The report further contains information on the financing of administrative expenses for operating the CDM for which Parties have been invited to make contributions to the UNFCCC Trust Fund for Supplementary Activities in paragraph 17 of decision 17/CP.7 and in paragraph 14 of decision 38/CP.7. It also gives information on modalities for implementing the provision of paragraph 16 of the CDM modalities and procedures (regarding attendance by observers of Board meetings); the facilitation of communication between the Board and the public; and decisions taken by the Board. This first annual report covers the period between 10 November 2001 and 2 August 2002. The work of the Board and matters relevant to its work occurring after 2 August 2002 will be reported to the COP at its eighth session by the Chair of the Board, Mr. John W. Ashe, orally and/or through an addendum to this document, as appropriate
