Fundamental Lecture in Atmosphere-Ocean Physics (English version)
This is an introductory graduate course lectured by two faculty members (atmosphere and ocean, respectively). The lecture will be given in English.
FY2018(H30) Spring(Completed)
The 1st quarter: 2 faculty members (Hasebe, Yoshimori), Environmental Science Building C202
Ocean part
My part (ocean) will be held on Wednesdays (10:30-12:00) during the 1st quarter: 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/23, 5/30, 6/6
Main topics:
- The physical setting of the ocean
- Physical properties of seawater
- Observed mean state of the ocean
- Fundamentals of ocean dynamics/Air-sea interaction
- Response of upper ocean to winds/Wind-driven circulation
- Deep-ocean circulation
- Ocean's role in climate (if time permits)
