Abstract
This Communication reports in detail the action the UK is taking to fulfil its commitments under the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol. It sets out how the UK intends to meet its target under the Protocol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12.5% below 1990 levels by 2008-2012, and move towards the domestic goal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20% below 1990 levels by 2010. It outlines how the UK is planning to adapt to the predicted impacts of climate change. It provides details of the UK’s programme for research and systematic observation. And it gives information about the assistance that the UK is providing to developing countries. The Communication highlights the UK’s contribution to global action to fight climate change
