Abstract
This note provides background information on the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC, including its Synthesis Report, with a view to facilitating its consideration by the SBSTA. It provides some general information on the report and identifies a number of issues relating to its uses, in particular to the possible future work of the subsidiary bodies. Given the large amount of information in the Third Assessment Report, this document provides only a brief introduction to it and a few examples of how it may be relevant to the work of the SBSTA and other bodies of the Convention
